Ghani Khan Choudhury Institute of Engineering and Technology (GKCIET), Malda, inaugurated a one-week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “LaTeX for Research” in collaboration with Spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay, on 29th August 2025. The programme will continue till 5th September 2025.In the inaugural session held today, Prof. Siby John, Director, GKCIET, addressed the participants in virtual mode and highlighted the importance of multilingual digital learning platforms like Spoken Tutorial IIT Bombay. He emphasized how such initiatives can benefit both students and faculty members of the institute in enhancing their academic and research capabilities. He also congratulated the MOOCs Committee of GKCIET for successfully organising the event.Prof. Kshirod Kumar Dash, HoD, FET and Director In-Charge, spoke on the relevance of the FDP theme, underlining the need for faculty members to adopt modern digital tools like LaTeX for effective research and publication. The event was graced by Dr. Partha Ganguly, Training Manager, Spoken Tutorial IIT Bombay, as Guest of Honour and resource person for the first session. Dr. Ganguly not only delivered an insightful lecture on the FDP theme but also demonstrated how the Spoken Tutorial platform can support both students and faculty in acquiring new technical skills. The Registrar, Deans, and Officers of GKCIET were present during the inauguration to encourage the participants. A total of 57 faculty members of the institute have registered for this FDP, aiming to upgrade their skills in LaTeX for research and academic writing.
