Jagat Jyoti Shri Mahatma Basaveshwara was a great saint, poet and an ardent social reformer of the 12th Century in India and his vision was to establish gender equality and social justice in the society. A series of activities including a seminar was held on 19th Aug 2025 at “Manthan”, to create awareness amongst the academic fraternity and spread his teaching and philosophy. Presentations on the life, teachings, philosophy and the values of Mahatma Basaveshwara, his social equality and anti-caste movements, his concept of Anubhava Mantapa were delivered. Director Prof. Siby John in his speech, revealed the relevance of the saint’s teachings on contemporary Indian society, and the values / lessons that can be imbibed from the great philosopher’s teachings. “Mahatmas’ are not to be worshipped but their teachings are to be practiced in real life” were his concluding remarks. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks and singing of the national anthem.
